- What is hydro-graphics / water transfer printing?
- The carrier of hydro-graphic film is soluble in water and there will be only ink layer (IFFA patterns) floating on the surface of water. The ink can be re-activated after coating or spraying activator. By dipping the objects, the ink can be transferred to the objects perfectly by water pressure. Compared to traditional printing, IFFA water transfer printing is much more powerful to decorate curved-surface objects.
- What is the process of IFFA hydro-graphics / water transfer printing?
- There are two kinds of IFFA water transfer printing process: pre-activating and post-activating; the main difference is ""timing of activation"".
- How many types of ink for IFFA hydro-graphic film?
- IFFA applies following ink for water trasnfer printing film.
(1) General Ink - K1: most widely used ink.
(2) Flat Edge Ink - K2: highly efficient ink,
(3) Outdoor Ink - K6: outstanding weather-resistant ink.
(4) Premium Automotive Grade Ink - P Series: excellent heat-resistant ink.
(5) Digital Hydro-graphic Ink: cylinder pre-development and small production ink. - What is the minimum order quantity of water transfer printing film?
- (1) Common Patterns: the minimum order quantity is 250m². Sometimes the order of 30m² is accpeted when we have inventory.
If there is no inventory but customers cannot order 250m², customers can choose to pay extra production fee for small order less than 250m².
(2) Custom patterns: the minimum order quantity is 500m². In general, there is no inventory for custom patterns. However, customers can also choose to pay extra production fee for small order less than 250m². - How long will I get my order?
- It takes 2-5 businnes days plus shipping time. But the lead time may be longer in the peak season. Please contact us if you have special request for the lead time.
- What are the specifications of IFFA hydro-graphic / water transfer printing film?
- The standard widths of film are 50cm / 60cm / 80cm / 100cm / 120cm / 150cm. If you have any speical demand on custom width, please contact us.
- What is the required hydro-graphic equipment?
- Dipping system and washer are the requirements for water transfer printing. Painting booth and oven are also required for the whole hydro-graphic process. Clean room may be required for some demanding products, such as electronics and automotive interiors.
- How many kinds of dipping systems does IFFA provide?
- (1) Automatic dipping systems: continuous flow dipping system (high capacity) and unit dipping system (medium capacity).
(2) Manual dipping systems: dipping tank (high to low capacity). - What are the washers IFFA supply?
- We offer tunnel conveyor washer (high to medium capccity) and tunnel swing washer (low capacity).
- Can IFFA build custom hydrographic machines?
- "Yes, we are glad to build custom hydrographic machines based on customers' needs. They can be modified or improved from our existing machines, or newly created according to customers' demands."
- What are the process and lead time of custom cylinder development?
- 1. IFFA processes the file provided by customers: 3 business days. If customers can only provide a piece of hardcopy, fabric, film or some other real things when the file is not available, IFFA still can do the job but it may takes 5 business days more and drawing fee will apply. 2. After the file processing, customers will receive digital files or hardcopies of pattern layout. After customers' confirmation, IFFA will start engraving the cylinders: 2-7 business days. 3. After the cylinders engraving, IFFA will go sample film printing for customers' last confirmation: 2-5 business days. 4. IFFA begins mass production after customers' approve the sample film and place orders. Therefore, the total process (not including shipping time) takes about 7-20 business days.
- What do I need to provide for my cylinder development?
- AI, EPS, PSD or TIF files (CMYK with layers) or JPEG file (equal or higher than 300 dpi resolution) are preferred. The file processing time can be as short as 2-3 business days. There will be 5 more business days required if customers only can provide a piece of hardcopy, fabric, film or material.
- What is the minimum order quantity of my own film?
- The minimum order quantity of private film is 500m².
- Are all the images able to be developed for cylinders?
- Yes, IFFA can develop cylinders for all the files or materials customers proivde. However, if there are logos on the image, the proof of authorization is required.
- What can I do if I want to have my own pattern but I do not have any files or designs but only ideas?
- Yes. IFFA offers the service of pattern design, cylinder development and hydro-graphic film printing. Please contact us.
- Are primers necessary for all kinds of materials?
- Primers are necessary for most materials. However, some materials like ABS may not need primer.
- Any suggestion for primer colors selection?
- In addition to addhesion, the other function of primer is enhancement of visual effect. IFFA's designs can be more spectacular when applying proper primers. For example, goldenrod color or tan color for wood grains, lightgray color for stone grains, black color or white color for carbon fibers, are all good matches. Definitely surprises are based on customers' creativity.
- How to store hydrographic film?
- The best conditions for the storage of hydrographic film:
1. Temperature 25℃-28℃
2. Humidity: under 70%
3. Store the film in a well ventilated place
4. Avoid sunlight - How to identify the ink side and back side of hydrographic film?
- "The ink side is always inside the roll. Another way to identify: put some water on both sides and the viscous side is for water. Please keep in mind: the carrier of hydrographic film dissolves in water but the ink does not."
